My Professional Journey
I began my career as a primary school teacher and, over the past 16 years, my work has developed across education, psychology, mental health and psychotherapy. I’ve supported children, young people and adults across a wide range of educational, therapeutic, clinical and forensic settings in Ireland, Australia and the UK.
My experience has included working in mainstream and specialist education, adult forensic mental health services, as well as several years as a teacher and senior leader within therapeutic special education in London.
While the settings and roles have varied, common threads have run throughout my work. I’ve been particularly drawn to supporting people affected by trauma and neurodivergent people, with a focus on understanding the experiences and needs that might explain behaviour.

Lived Experience of ADHD
Having been diagnosed with ADHD myself at the age of 30, my lived experience informs my work and has contributed to my passion for working with adults at different stages of understanding their own ADHD or neurodivergence — whether self-identified, considering seeking a diagnosis or making sense of a diagnosis already received.
I approach neurodivergence with humility and curiosity, recognising that no two experiences are the same and being guided by each person in understanding what it means for them.
Alongside my lived experience, many years of working with neurodivergent children and young people in education have strengthened my commitment to supporting teachers and organisations to better understand neurodiversity and embed more affirming approaches in their everyday practice.
